Is there a solid basis for excessive optimism to form the government?
Attention remains strong today on Baabda, and hopes are pinned on the meeting between the President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun and the Prime Minister-designate, Saad Hariri, that perhaps will result in a new government, whose composition and specifications They are close to the directions set by French President Emmanuel Macron in the rescue initiative he launched to help Lebanon recover from political crises. And the finances that sank into him, a ministry of nonpartisan specialists working to implement reforms and stop the collapse.
Deputy Jihad Al-Samad told Al-Markaziyah: “Despite the positive atmosphere that spread after the meeting between Presidents Aoun and Hariri yesterday, I did not find in my reading of the issues this excessive optimism, which was attributed so much Baabda as well as Bayt Al-Wasat, especially regarding the president of the republic who left the obstructed third party after His allies abandoned him and became almost the only one without a supporter. Knowing that there is no final agreement on the portfolios yet, names and other details related to the government’s program and their work ”.
He added: “Externally, I also did not see a change in existing Arab and foreign policies, which were said to have impeded training, at least before the end of the year, and specifically before US President-elect Joe Biden , assumed his functions in the White House. Nor did I notice a change in Arab positions towards Lebanon, especially one of the countries that influences the Lebanese decision and boycotts the government. ”
And if the future government is capable of implementing the promised reforms that Lebanon has committed to making, Al-Samad questioned this, asking about the reasons that prevent the appointment of boards of directors in Electricity, Public Services, Public Administration and Port Authority, and whether he remains or is in his own way in terms of fees and appointment of accountants and peers who are not subject to accountability. And laws.
He continued: “There are 53 laws related to the reform process, the regularity of work flow and performance in official ministries and departments, latent in the inclusion of officials, which are not applied, and the question is how the reform can be without the application of laws and regulations “.
Regarding the demarcation of borders, Al-Samad believes that what is intended is to break the will of Lebanon and bring the resistance to its knees, as we live today, and with this spectacle, the Arab countries that embarked on normalization with the Israeli entity were intimidated by an American push.
