Lebanese President Michel Aoun affirmed that he is determined to continue the process of “liberating the state from the system of political, economic and administrative corruption”, and stressed that “the criminal financial audit will indicate to all those responsible for the collapse of our economic system and it will pave the way for the reforms necessary to rebuild the Lebanese state. ” .
Aoun said in a speech during the Second International Conference to Help and Support Beirut and the Lebanese People, held in Paris, via video technology, on Wednesday: “I am determined to continue the march to free the State from the system of corruption. political, economic and administrative, which has become its hostage, with a coverage of sectarian, sectarian and social guarantees. ».
He added that “Lebanon does not know the impossible, and our history tells us that we are a people that never tires of the struggle to preserve its existence.” Aoun called on the entire international community “not to abandon the country of rice and the wealth that it represents for all humanity.”
According to the official National Media Agency, the Lebanese president considered that “the international community can provide basic assistance to Lebanon in this context, through the means available to the United Nations and the European Union, in terms of combating theft of funds. public and track illegal capital transfers abroad, specifically as of October 17, 2019 ».
The Lebanese president declared that due to the accumulated and growing crises that plagued Lebanon, the assistance of the assembled countries has become indispensable for all Lebanese in whatever region they may be in.
He stressed that international aid is essential, whatever its methods, mechanisms or tools, and whatever channels it adopts, as long as it is under the supervision of the assembled countries and the supervision of the United Nations. It revealed that Lebanon is currently negotiating with the World Bank a loan of 246 million dollars for the project “Social safety net, Lebanon’s emergency crisis and response to Covid-19”. The negotiations will end this week and we hope to obtain urgent approval from the World Bank Board of Directors.
