Two weeks have passed since the crime that shook Koura in northern Lebanon and led to the murder of 3 young people from the town of Kaftoun, without knowing many details about it.
However, a statement released on Saturday by the Lebanese army claimed that the car carrying the gunmen accused of this murder belonged to an ISIS prince.
In detail, the army stated that the Intelligence Directorate managed to arrest members of a terrorist cell linked to ISIS that was preparing to carry out security activities in the country.
He noted that investigations showed that the commander of that cell was the hidden terrorist, Khaled al-Talawi, whose car was used by the perpetrators of the Kaftoun crime that took place on 8/21/2020.
In addition, the army stated that the arrest of the elements of that cell occurred after a series of security operations in the North and Bekaa regions on different dates.
Investigations also revealed that the detainees received military training, collected seized weapons and ammunition for war, and carried out various robberies in order to finance the activities of the terrorist cell.
It is noteworthy that this announcement comes at a time when Lebanon is going through an unprecedented political, economic and living crisis for years, which was further aggravated by the explosion of the port of Beirut, which left 191 dead and thousands of injured, and It unleashed a massive wave of anger against the ruling political class, and revived the protest movement relatively after it withdrew due to the spread of Coronavirus and the imposition of quarantine measures in the country.
