An explosion in a tanker in the port of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The British Maritime Trade Operations Authority announced an explosion on a Saudi-flagged tanker off the Red Sea port of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
The aforementioned authority urged ships in the region to act with caution, confirming that investigations are underway.
For its part, the shipping company “Havnia” said this morning, Monday, that one of its tankers was hit by an unknown “external source”, which caused the outbreak of a fire, and an explosion occurred during the unloading of the ship in the port of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
The company added in a statement on its website: “The BW Rain was struck by an outside source while unloading in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, at approximately 00:40 local time today, Monday, causing an explosion and a subsequent fire aboard ship. “

He added that the crew put out the fire and no one was injured, noting that damage was caused to parts of the ship’s hull.
He explained that some oil may have leaked from the ship, but this has not been confirmed, noting that the devices currently indicate that the oil levels on board the ship are at the same level as before the accident.
According to “Havnia”, “Refinitiv” shipping data indicated that the company-owned and managed “BW Rain” can transport between 60,000 tons and 80,000 tons of light and medium distillation petroleum products.
