The following statement was issued by the Hanin people, Al-Muniyeh and the Mir family in Hanin:
An explanation of what happened yesterday about the problems that occurred between us and the Syrian workers who have lived in a local camp for more than twenty years, and there were no disagreements with them that led us to what we got yesterday. There are several points stained with ambiguity that require clarification for the public opinion: First, we and the neighbors of the workshop are brothers. The Syrians have no prior differences between us, and they have been working with us for more than fifteen years in the collection of fruits in all the Lebanese lands and throughout the year, and they collect their fees without any decrease.
Second: From the beginning of the events in Syria, we supported the brother Syrian people and assured them job opportunities with us as much as we could that we could secure for several of them. Third: What happened yesterday, one of our relatives went to make an account with some of the workers, for which they attacked him and beat him with sticks without maintaining the slightest knowledge or even consulting with his parents, which required the intervention of their relatives and were isolated without any sharp object, so more than fifty young Syrian workers carrying a stick AND knives and the attack on Mir, which provoked a response from the people of the area, and we do not know who fired into the air to deter the workers and repel them from the attack on Mir, who wounded more than four people with a stick or a stab wound and were unarmed.
Fourth: We call and trust the Lebanese Judicial Power and all the Lebanese security forces, which did not fail from the first moment in which the problems occurred to uncover the infiltrators who set fire to the camp and that until now we have not been able to meet them. , so we are sure that none of the Mir family have anything to do with burning down the camp or even shooting at us. We were attacked, and if it hadn’t been for the goodness of God, we would have been victims
Fifth: we denounce the assault against us and the Syrian workers who made a mistake in our rights and their right together. They have been working with us for decades, and we strongly condemn the campfire anywhere and we are innocent of it, and this act of sabotage only serves the enemies of the region that was, continues and will continue to be on the side of the brother Syrian people. We and they are one people and one destiny. Sixth: We appreciate and value the positions of all honest people who denounced what happened, as well as we denounce this atrocious act that some wanted to impose on us and hold us responsible for its consequences and use it as merchandise for despicable purposes at the service of the enemies of the region whose national identity and positions with the brother Syrian people are known.
Finally, thanks to those who understood and defended the truth, asking Almighty God that the judiciary and all the Lebanese security forces, whom we respect and honor, come to discover the perpetrators and hold them accountable. “
