The American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) announced that it was able to save the life of an eight-year-old boy who was diagnosed with what is known as Multiple Systems Inflammation Syndrome in Children (MIS-C), which is one of the first cases recorded in Lebanon that is directly related to the virus. The center highlighted in a statement, “The importance of spreading and promoting awareness of Multiple Systemic Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C), especially as we are expected to witness more of these cases in light of the continued spread. of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The treating physicians noted “the importance of rapid diagnosis of these cases, since it is necessary to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to save the life of the child through close follow-up, from the emergency room to the intensive care team, infectious diseases and pediatric cardiology.”
The center stated that “Multisystemic Inflammation Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) is rare, but most children who develop it can recover after prompt diagnosis and by obtaining the necessary medical care to reduce the exacerbation of the disease. condition and achieve a full recovery. It is also characterized by a number of signs. The symptoms, without being described as a disease in themselves. Like most children infected with the Covid-19 virus, they develop only mild symptoms. But they have been recorded many cases among children whose medical condition worsened several weeks after infection and developed multiple systemic inflammatory syndrome, and some were exposed.
