On Wednesday, US police killed a young black man in Washington, DC, along with widespread anger across the country at racism and violence by security forces.
The authorities explained that policemen were near the scene of the accident to investigate complaints of “armed men in a car.”
“When they approached the car, some people tried to flee on foot and a police officer fired his gun,” US Metropolitan Police Chief Peter Newsham told a news conference, killing one of them, a young man from 18 years old, according to local websites.

He added: “We believe he was carrying a weapon at the time,” confirming that two weapons were found at the crash site.
“Tryon White”, a local congressman, told the media that the victim was a “young African American” who was asked to publish the images taken by the police cameras.
The “Black Lives Matter” movement in Washington said, “You will not escape this (incident). Do not let the media suppress this issue,” and called for demonstrations at the scene.
The incident comes after months of protests against police brutality across the United States, and just two days after the Los Angeles police shot an African-American on a bicycle.
