52 million Americans have voted in the presidential elections so far, which is more than the number recorded during the early voting process in the race to reach the White House in 2016, according to electoral data in the United States.

According to the figures, more than 25 million people voted by mail and received their ballots, or attended polling stations and voted in person, during the first week of the early voting process.

These recently announced figures show that the number of voters doubled in just one week, according to The Independent.

Should voter turnout continue at this rate, the 2020 presidential election will exceed the highest turnout recorded so far, which is 65 percent of those eligible to vote, a rate recorded in the 1908 election.

Early voting took place this year, to avoid congestion in the long lines on the next voting day on November 3.

Many have expressed concern about the spread of the new Corona virus through waiting lines, while experts recommend taking into account social distancing and leaving people close to two meters.

With 11 days remaining until the presidential election, more than half of the first votes come from states that may favor President Donald Trump or his Democratic rival, Joe Biden.

University of Florida professor and researcher Michael MacDonald said that as of October 23, 35.7 million people had voted by mail, while more than 15.7 million people had voted early in person.

And in twelve states, 12 million votes came from Democrats, multiplying the 6.3 million votes from Republicans. The other five million votes were cast by people who do not belong to any party or who are registered in smaller parties.

The data indicates that voters have obtained nearly 38 percent of the total votes counted in the 2016 elections so far.

In Texas, the number of votes cast is close to 70 percent of the total number of votes registered in 2016.

In the states of Vermont, North Carolina, New Jersey, Montana and Georgia, it was more than 50 percent compared to the previous elections.

In the 2016 presidential elections, 55.5 percent of those eligible to vote participated and almost 137 million votes were registered.
