Al-Miqdad called on the new US administration to carry out a review of its policy in Syria, saying it “has before it the choice not to delay the withdrawal of its forces from Syria.” He added that the United States “encourages terrorist groups to act to ensure that there is a justification for their permanence in the region.”

He continued: “This American encouragement is taking place in northeastern Syria through support for separatist groups, and this is evident in the support it provides to Turkey to occupy the northwest and the direct occupation of Syria by the United States.”

Al-Miqdad described the Russian military presence in Syria as “an imperative, because terrorism is not over yet.” He said: “We have achieved joint victories (with Russia) against terrorism, but this does not mean that terrorism is over.” He added: “The war on terror continues in various forms and meanings, because once we achieve our goal of defeating terrorism, they create terrorist groups and armed separatist groups that continue the battle to achieve their political goals … This, for Of course, it must be faced, because Russia is not far from Syria. “

The regime’s chancellor referred to the political situation, referring to the next presidential elections scheduled for mid-2021, which will be held on time, adding that there will be no link between them and the success of the Constitutional Committee’s work.

Al-Miqdad said about the possibility of postponing the presidential elections in case the Constitutional Committee does not reach an agreement: “It is very clear that we will all work on the basis of the current constitution until we draw up a new constitution, and that is something that the constitutional committee knows well, ”adding that the elections will be held in accordance with the provisions of the current constitution. .
