Three weeks have passed since the disaster and the statistics on damage and losses, including physical and psychological injuries, and the destruction of homes and property, are still in their infancy. In light of the economic and health collapse, on the one hand, and the insistence of society in refusing to treat the disaster as an accident whose effects will not dissipate, on the other hand, the return to everyday life has become dependent on paths that link reconstruction with the responsibility of those responsible for the disaster.
Both the Director of Cultural Resources, Elena Nassif, and the Director of Horizons, Rima Al-Masmar, stated that “this initiative, based on previous initiatives recently launched by the Cultural Resource and Afaq institutions, to support artistic and cultural institutions in Lebanon in the face of economic collapse, and to support artists and artists from the Arab region in Faced with the challenges posed by the Coronavirus pandemic, its main driver lies in the priority of preserving some cohesion for an entire sector, in the absence of any role or movement of the public sector, so that its members can continue to play their role in criticizing, documenting, questioning, questioning axioms, illuminating marginalized narratives and raising issues. It is urgent proposals that reconfigure our relations with the present, the past, politics and the public sphere ”.

Second, the priority is in terms of the nature of the job and / or the opportunities.
The support program will give priority to freelancers or freelancers. Affected and affected people working part-time or full-time can apply for support. These requests will be considered in light of the total number and how resources are distributed, or will be transferred to a second round of support as soon as additional resources are available. Recipients and recipients of other emergency support initiatives may apply for support, but their access to additional support will continue to depend on the number of requests and the availability of resources, and this will be taken into account when determining the value of the grant.
In conjunction with the launch of this support initiative, a fundraising campaign continues for the Solidarity Fund with Lebanon to mobilize additional resources that allow us to support the institutions and cultural and artistic spaces affected by the explosion, as well as a second round of individual support if necessary.
