Al-Bukhari to Aoun: We know (the lack of) Wafa Hariri

[ad_1]

This is expressed by international organizations, friendly with Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri, regarding their fear that the latter is not willing to form a government, which Hariri confirms in his continuous actions since his appointment to office. A path that empties all the initiatives that have been launched of its content, because Hariri simply does not want to negotiate, nor to obtain the best “offer”, but to impose its conditions. The purpose of that is two things: or to drag the presidency – and its successor – to the Free Patriotic Movement – to great concessions that appear in the form of a “break” of the Pact and a coup against it. Or it triggers all the positive attempts so that things do not come to an end and a government is not formed. And the political information indicates the predominance of the second option: Saad Hariri will continue to complicate the formation of the government until he obtains the international and regional “password” that “allows” him to close this file. In addition to external pressure, he publicly declared to those he knows that he will not become a jihadist who carries a fireball to raise support and endure angry popular reactions. However, with experience, Hariri became politically “astute” and managed to present himself to Lebanese public opinion as the person who “tries” to save the country by creating a government, while “President Michel Aoun obstructs”.

It seems “normal” for the Prime Minister-designate, Saad Hariri, to write his statements on the results of his negative meetings with the president, before they are held. No one doubts Hariri’s adherence to the “right” to appoint the seats “reserved” for the Sunni and Christian community, and he is partnering with the Amal Movement and the Progressive Socialist Party to appoint the rest of the ministers, while claiming that only it accepts a government of “specialists” devoid of politicians. Even when Aoun agrees to give up the condition of obtaining the third guarantor, Hariri suddenly creates a new obstacle, which is his insistence on the participation of the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil, in the government, otherwise he refuses to assign the President of the Republic more than two ministerial posts. All the actions of Saad Hariri are mere maneuvers, to eliminate the responsibility of obstructing himself and the “outside” that links his decisions with him. At a fateful moment in the country’s history, the prime minister-designate seems like he only cares about the seat, even if it’s a devastated kingdom. All the positive leaks that preceded the “Monday meeting” were buried by the Aoun-Hariri meeting the day before yesterday. The word “finished” does not exist in the political dictionary, but so far, all indicators point to government complications and it is difficult to witness an immediate solution. In essence, the crisis is not a third guarantor or a ministerial seat, but a deep regime crisis, the solution of which requires a comprehensive program.
The meetings of the President of the Republic at the Baabda Palace yesterday were a continuation of the tug of war between him and Hariri. In particular, the meeting was with the Saudi ambassador to Beirut, Walid al-Bukhari. The meeting was held “at the request of the president,” which means that on diplomatic principles, the ambassador must respond to the invitation. However, Bukhari was able to request that the date be postponed for a few days, so that the move would not translate as a negative message on Hariri’s face. Rather, he responded to Baabda’s call less than 24 hours before the war of words between him and the president-designate. This comes in conjunction with Saudi Arabia not hiding its “hatred” against Hariri and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman refusing to receive it, and with information circulating in political circles that when Aoun’s envoy met with Bukhari earlier , the President of the Republic told him: “They appointed (Saudi Arabia) an alternative to Saad Hariri to the presidency. The government and I agree.” Even if Al-Bukhari comes back and meets Hariri after a while, this will not nullify the impact of his visit to Baabda. Sources from the President of the Republic affirmed that the atmosphere of the visit “was positive. The invitation was made the night before yesterday, and was quickly answered.” Aoun and Al-Bukhari spoke about the Taif agreement, and the president was “anxious to announce his accession to Taif and that he would exercise the rest of his powers as president of the republic.” Aoun explained that if “the pact is held accountable in the street, then it needs re presentation to government “. Hariri was one of the headlines of the meeting, so Aoun told the Saudi ambassador that he was treating the president-designate “like my son, but it turned out that he was not loyal.” According to sources, Bukhari confirmed this character, saying to Aoun: “What do you tell us about his loyalty?” We are the ones who know that best ”, not to mention the appointment of a new prime minister.

Aoun to Al-Bukhari: I treated Hariri like my son, but it turned out he had no loyalty

Al-Bukhari stated after the meeting ended its emphasis on “accelerating the formation of a government capable of achieving the security, stability and prosperity to which the Lebanese people aspire. We also urge all Lebanese political parties to prioritize the supreme national interest, given the urgent need to immediately initiate radical reforms that restore the international community’s confidence in Lebanon. However, Al-Bukhari continued to escalate, in a way that undermines previous “ceremonial expressions”, adhering to the content of “Security Council Resolutions 1701, 1680 and 1559 and the relevant Arab and international resolutions in order to preserve the stability and Lebanon’s respect for its sovereignty and unity. ” We emphasize that the Taif Agreement is the custodian of national unity and civil peace in Lebanon.
The second diplomatic station in Baabda was with the French ambassador to Lebanon, Anne Gereo, whose country insists on floating Saad Hariri in front of the presidential team and Hezbollah, and considers him her “Trojan horse” – her and the United States of America – for the next stage. “The reason for the meeting was based on the premise that France is the sponsor of the government initiative … and Hariri. Aoun made it clear that it would facilitate the formation of the government, while Hariri was reluctant Aoun affirmed his “adherence to the French initiative as a rescue project for Lebanon, and to work towards the formation of a new government that faces the current challenges at various levels.”

The crisis is not a third of a guarantor or a ministerial seat, but a deep regime crisis.

On the other hand, as always, musicians tend to “defend the dignity of the sects” when things get politically complicated. From this point of view, the former prime ministers “rushed” to a meeting of “solidarity” with the position of the prime minister, not with Hariri. Former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora issued a statement condemning “His Excellency the president, the transgression of the provisions of the constitution, as if the intention was to embarrass the president in charge of his removal,” highlighting his adherence to “the constitution, in letter and spirit, and the national reconciliation document in Taif. ” Consequently, any attempt to escalate the issue into sectarian and sectarian terms and reproduce sectarian conflict is rejected in advance. ” The “Presidents Club” supported the Hariri draft he presented, “and their adherence to it is not out of stubbornness or concession, but in response to what Lebanese and Lebanese brothers and friends want in the world.” The praise for Hariri came to confirm his work in accordance with the “foreign” roadmap, which does not want a Lebanese solution. Hariri was called to “persevere in his national and constitutional stance, which is firm and based on what the Lebanese strive to achieve, especially the need to restore the capable and just Lebanese state to its full authority and free choice.” .
