The political body of the Free Patriotic Movement held its periodic meeting headed by Representative Gebran Bassil, discussed its agenda and made the pertinent decisions in this regard and issued the following statement:
1- The commission asks to accelerate the formation of the government and not to link this internal law to any external factor or development. The formation of the Lebanese government is a Lebanese matter and a constitutional duty, and Lebanon cannot afford to waste time.
And while the commission affirms respect for the unity of constitutional and constitutional standards in the training process, it recalls that the French initiative with its reform points requires an effective and productive government of ministers who are capable of implementing the program and are specialists in their field of study, which means the need to have a specialized minister at the head of each ministry. More than one ministerial portfolio for a minister is a violation of the principle of jurisdiction, especially if the minister charges arbitrarily between two portfolios that are not related to the jurisdiction of one with the other.
2 – The Commission declares its determination and commitment to carry out a criminal audit of the accounts of the Banque du Liban as a mandatory first step on the road to reform.
Consequently, the movement will not stand idly by in the face of any attempt to obstruct the audit procedure, and whenever an obstacle arises, it will do what must be removed, with the prior awareness that there are those who will continue to obstruct any investigation that reveals the fate of money wasted, donated and transferred and the trajectory of its spending in recent years.
The commission insists on the need to determine the reasons for the collapse of Lebanon as a consequence of the accumulation of debts, the persistence of corruption and the decline of the economy to the point of atrophy and depression, to correct them and not for another objective. . The body politic confirms that the movement will use all means of pressure to uncover the facts and address political, legislative and popular obstructions.
3- The body politic considers with great concern the facts that contradict the principles of freedom, dialogue and coexistence between cultures and religions in France, since the commission categorically rejects damaging religious symbols and the sanctities of peoples and religions and warns of repression and the consequences of the contempt for them, condemns and rejects in return the resort to violence and murder AND physical abolition under the pretext of defending beliefs, so it is not possible to stand idly by in the face of brutality and the speech of hatred that incites the murder of others.
The commission refuses to insult or demonize the Islamic religion, not only by those exposed to its symbols, but also by exploiting it by those who seek to defend it while using it to achieve political and expansionist goals as it is known and exposed.
