A bomb attack by a teenage suicide bomber late Friday in northeastern Nigeria killed three people and seriously injured two others.
Security and humanitarian sources said the attack took place in the city of Konduga, 38 km from Maiduguri, capital of Borno state.
Ibrahim Lehman, an official with a pro-government militia, confirmed that the 17-year-old girl blew herself up among a group of men who had gathered near the home of a local leader.
This suicide attack bears the imprint of “Boko Haram” that has used female suicide bombers to launch attacks against civilians in this region since the outbreak of the insurgency in 2009.
Thirty people were killed last year in a bombing by three Boko Haram suicide bombers in the city of Konduga itself.
Friday’s attack comes a week after hundreds of children and adolescents were abducted by criminals working for “Boko Haram”, in the northwest of the country, despite the fact that it is an area located hundreds of kilometers from the group’s stronghold. .
On Friday, 344 of the students were released after negotiations with authorities and returned to their families, but the number of children still abducted remains unclear.
