Princess Diana’s former secretary revealed that she was so scared for her life that she carried a refrigerator full of supplies of her blood.
The princess’s security team took the blood supply as a precaution in case it became necessary if Diana was attacked.
“In particular when we are out of the country or in the developing world, we carry a small refrigerator full of backup supplies of Diana’s blood,” said her former private secretary, Patrick Jephson. “Each of us was examined so that the doctors would know which of us could donate blood if the princess needed it. Diana was often in physical danger,” he added.
The team working with Princess Diana had to exercise regularly to ensure good blood flow and a plentiful supply in case it was really needed. “This part of the job was easy to forget, so we got a sharp reminder,” he said.
Patrick served as chief of staff and private secretary to the former Princess of Wales from 1988 to 1996, during which time she divorced Prince Charles and the monarchy sidelined her, neglecting her charitable endeavors.
“I think they underestimated her,” Patrick said. “It’s a shame they didn’t realize the virtue they had. Princess Diana was not a rebel by nature, she was inherently royal. It should have been her greatest asset, but they let it slip away.” .
