According to Al-Markaziyah, the Foreign and Expatriate Ministry had informed the ambassador to Nigeria, Hossam Diab, that the lost commercial ship between Cameroon and Nigeria had been hijacked. While the hijackers returned the ship with two Cameroonian sailors, eight sailors still remained, including three kidnapped Lebanese.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the interim government, Charbel Wehbe, continued his contacts to clarify the destination of the ship.
Ambassador Diab is following up the matter in all its details with the Lebanese Honorary Consul in Cameroon and stakeholders, especially the Nigerian Navy, to investigate the ship’s fate.
It was learned that the vessel was chartered by an oil company to transport goods from an area near Cross River – Lagos to Cameroon.
