It was not immediately clear if the shooting was related to protests that erupted after a jury refused to charge two white police officers in the Taylor shooting.
Taylor, 26, was killed in front of her armed friend after midnight on March 13 at her Louisville apartment after Hankison and two of her colleagues stormed the scene with a search warrant.
Hundreds of people stormed out of Jefferson Square Park in downtown Louisville and marched through the streets shouting, “Get out of the houses, get out into the streets.” Images broadcast by local news channels showed lines of police officers equipped with riot control equipment.
The protests were mostly peaceful. However, around a dozen were arrested during a clash between hundreds of protesters and dozens of policemen.
