A message through the ‘WhatsApp’ application can expose your accounts to hacking

Several complaints were received from citizens before the Office for the Fight against Information Crimes and Protection of Intellectual Property of the Judicial Police Unit, about the piracy of its application “WhatsApp” by unknown persons, upon receiving a text message to through the aforementioned application in which the sender affirms that it is from “WhatsApp”. The victim, under the pretext of avoiding blocking the account, must follow the following steps:

Send the word “Done”.

Then, the victim receives a code consisting of numbers / 6 /, through a text message “sms” or by a voice call, and is asked to resend it, under the pretext of making sure that the recipient is the Account owner.

Once the code is resent, the hacker activates the victim’s “WhatsApp” application on their device and is available to them, leaving the account owner vulnerable to blackmail.

These messages are not from the company “WhatsApp” and are intended to remove information and data from the recipient’s device, in preparation for later use in fraudulent actions.

Therefore, and in order to avoid being a victim of these events, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces asks the honorable citizens to neglect these messages and not respond to their content.
