European countries have expanded restrictions aimed at containing the second wave of Corona, bypassing social life to close schools and cancel surgeries.

Most European governments eased lockdown measures in the summer to start reviving their economies, which are already heading for an unprecedented dramatic decline and job losses due to the first wave of the coronavirus outbreak.

But the easing of restrictions caused a record increase in injuries.

The daily incidence rate in Europe reached 100,000 cases, roughly a third of global infections, forcing governments to tighten restrictions as they tried to set standards to protect health without destroying livelihoods.

The World Health Organization says Britain, France, Russia and Spain accounted for more than half of the new cases in Europe in the week ending October 11.

Macron said in an interview broadcast on French television that the curfew will take effect from Saturday and continue daily from 9 p.m. (1900 GMT) until 6 a.m. the next day.

He indicated that the curfew would remain in effect for four weeks.

The French government approved, by decree on Wednesday, the state of health emergency, which constitutes a legal framework for some restrictions that will be imposed from midnight on October 17, and will cover the entire national territory in the face of the escalation of the epidemic crisis of Covid-19.

The Cabinet minutes indicated that the worsening of the crisis “justifies the declaration of a state of health emergency in order to take measures that are precisely adapted to health risks and are adapted to the circumstances of time and place.

In this context, Macron emphasized that there is no going back to impose a general blockade on France.

On Tuesday, France registered about 13 thousand cases of the virus, and 8,500 cases, on Monday, while the country, on Saturday, registered the highest number of daily infections since the outbreak of the epidemic, with about 27 thousand cases.

In light of these worrying figures, President Macron’s government was expected to take strict measures to remedy the situation, with some of them starting a few days ago.
