The death toll from the new Corona virus in Iran has passed the 33,000 mark, with new record daily death and injury rates, according to figures announced by the Health Ministry on Tuesday.

Ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Larry reported 346 deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number to 33,299.

This is the highest daily toll on record since the announcement of the first Corona cases last February, and the previous highest toll was 337 deaths recorded for the first time last week, and also yesterday Monday.

The spokeswoman reported that 6,968 injured were registered in the last hours, bringing the total number to 581,824.

This daily number increases by about 800 injuries from the previous record of 6,191, which was announced Sunday.

Some experts questioned the veracity of the official figures announced in Iran.

A report by the Research Center of the Iranian Parliament in April indicated that the number of injuries and deaths in Corona may be almost double what the Health Ministry announces.

Authorities complain about leniency in social distancing restrictions, and Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi said last week that the pandemic could cause 600 deaths a day in the coming weeks unless Iranians comply with the protocols of health of the country.

Schools, mosques, shops, restaurants and other public institutions in Tehran have been closed since October 3 and the closure was due to end on Monday.
