Boris Johnson’s government will announce this Monday that self-isolation will no longer be necessary for those who have had contact with people who have tested positive for Covid-19, according to the British newspaper The Telegraph.

The newspaper added that people who have had contact with other people who have tested positive for the virus will have to undergo daily tests for a period of seven days and in the meantime be allowed to conduct their business.

She said ministers would say the current system requires people to stay home for 14 days across the country in January if the pilot plans are successful.

The newspaper noted that the extensive quarantine restrictions will end in time for Christmas so that families can travel to high-risk “red list” countries to visit relatives.

He noted that the restrictions will be reduced from 14 days to five days if the result of the Corona virus tests is negative for those who return from the flights five days after their return to the country.

She said the new system will be enacted on December 15 or 16, and that people will come out of quarantine once they get the test results.
