The late Minister Al-Moallem is a longtime diplomat known for his honorable national positions in various fields of political and diplomatic work. He was born in Damascus in 1941 and studied in public schools from 1948 to 1960, where he obtained a high school diploma and joined Cairo University and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor’s degree in economics and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this year. 1964 and served in the following missions: “Tanzania, Saudi Arabia, Spain, England”, and in 1975 he was appointed Ambassador of Syria in the Republic of Romania until 1980, when he was appointed Director of the Department of Documentation and Translation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1980 to 1984, then Director of the Department of Private Offices from 1980 to 1984. 1984 to 1990.
He was appointed Ambassador to the United States from 1990 to 1999, then he was appointed Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in early 2000 and was appointed Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs according to Decree No. 8 of 09/01/2005 and has held the position Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2006 and has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates since 2012 year.
