After the Holy Gospel, the pastor delivered a sermon entitled: “We pray together to God to heal all those affected by the Crown epidemic, limit its spread and even exterminate, restore normal life to the world and thus limit the increase in the number of poor and unemployed. We also pray for the good of Salvation of Lebanon touches the consciences and hearts of political and influential officials, to facilitate, with impartiality and sincerity, the formation of a government capable of lifting it out of the state of financial, economic, vital and social misery .
The Pastor noted: “We know with certainty that the invisible and powerful hand of God protects Lebanon from permanently falling into the hands of those who stalk evil from within and from without, for personal, factional and international interests, thanks to the prayers of the faithful. , his pain, his hunger, his deprivation and his tears, and thanks to the intercession of our mother, the Virgin Mary, Our Lady. Lebanon, and our saints are the children of this country, who will not leave it prey to the greedy and the wolves. And if God appears silent or absent, then He interferes in his way in a timely manner and in accordance with his management. His fees and commandments are like Zacharias and Isabel.
He said: How we want our political officials to participate in liturgical life and let God speak to their hearts, consciences and minds. If they did, they would not have brought the country to a state of misery and collapse at the level of people and institutions!
And he added: Faced with the contempt for the cry of the hungry people and their revolution, and facing the wounds of Beirut, which was afflicted by the explosion of its port on August 4, without the State lifting a finger, and facing the insistence of friendly countries to form a new government and initiate reforms, with willing international support, is compelled to ask questions. Fatality:
Is this persistence in obstructing the formation of the government and neglecting the interests of the people and the homeland part of the project to overthrow the State of Greater Lebanon in order to seize its remnants? We see no other target for this persistent obstruction, which is accompanied by the systematic disruption of financial and banking capacity, impoverishing people to the point of making them beggars, and forcing their powers of life and the best of their youth to emigrate. educated.
Do you no longer want, dear disabled people on all sides, a civil state that separates religion and state, and a multicultural and multireligious state, as the founder, the great Patriarch Mukarram Elias Al-Hawaik, wanted when he announced at the Peace Conference in Versailles in 1919: In Lebanon there is a sect called Lebanon, and the multiple sects in it form its social fabric?
The pastor asked: Don’t you want, after one hundred years of life in Lebanon, a democratic state open to all the countries of the earth, whose culture is known to be a place to live together, Christians and Muslims, with balanced cooperation? and mutual respect, and a place for meeting and dialogue? Do you not want, therefore, a neutral, fully sovereign State, which enforces the dignity of law and justice at home, defends itself with its own powers against any external aggression and plays the role of mediator for stability and peace and the promotion of human and peoples’ rights in the region? If you don’t want all this, then you despise the constitution, the charter, and Lebanon’s identity and mission in Arab and international families. This is the gulf between you and the Lebanese people, who own the land, not you, and are the source of all authority, as stipulated in the constitution in its introduction. It wants an independent government with all its ministers, not some of them. This is the only way out to resolve the persistent crisis. The Church believes with the faithful of Lebanon that this country is a project of joint life that is built every day, and a project of civilized association, not a numerical association, and therefore rejects any dividing alignment that breaks the association and converts to Lebanon in an arena of conflict between minority and majority projects in the region.
In another context, Al-Ra’i noted that “in recent days we have seen, with deep affection, our brothers of the Armenian people in Nagorno Karabagh (Artsakh) leave with tears the lands they lost, churches and monasteries, including the famous Dadivank Monastery, dating back 800 years, but it was founded. In the early years of Christianity at the hand of Saint Dad who honors his body in it, a monastery with his beloved churches in his heart. In the land they lost, on behalf of the charter of human rights and human brotherhood and its principles highlighted by the document on human brotherhood signed by His Holiness Pope Francis and Sheikh of Al-Azhar Imam Ahmad Al-Tayeb in Abu Dhabi on February 4, 2019. Coexistence must triumph over estrangement and hatred.
