The United Nations has warned of the violation of the ceasefire in Western Sahara and the dire consequences of any change in the status quo.

In recent days, the United Nations, including the Secretary-General, participated in various initiatives to prevent an escalation of the situation in the sector of separations in the Guerguerat region and to warn about the violations of the ceasefire and the dire consequences of any change in the status quo.

The Secretary-General regrets that these efforts have not been successful and expresses his deep concern about the possible consequences of recent events.

The Gulf Cooperation Council announced its support for the measures taken by Morocco in the Guerguerat region.

A statement by the council expressing its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Morocco and its rejection of any practice that affects trafficking in the Guerguerat region between Morocco and Mauritania, and called for restraint, commitment to dialogue and the use of peaceful solutions.

The General Secretary of the Polisario Front, Ibrahim Ghali, announced the resumption of hostilities against Morocco after the end of the ceasefire commitment with the Kingdom.

And Ghali had part of the responsibility to the United Nations after its continued silence on the Moroccan attacks, as he himself put it.

It also requested the Saharawi Liberation Army General Staff Command to take the necessary measures in parallel with the declaration of a state of war.

This comes after Rabat announced that it would secure “Guerguerat”, while the Polisario announced that it was blocking progress.

The Moroccan Armed Forces also announced that the Guerguerat crossing between Morocco and Mauritania in Western Sahara has become completely safe, and the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army is talking about attacking various Moroccan sites.

On the other hand, the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army announced the attack on several Moroccan sites, in response to the breach of the ceasefire agreement signed between Rabat and the Polisario Front.

Morocco had announced the start of a military operation in the Guerguerat border region, in the face of what it described as “dangerous and unacceptable provocations by members of the Polisario.”

As for the Polisario Front, he spoke of the outbreak of war with Morocco after torpedoing the ceasefire.
