Today, Saturday, the Lebanese army announced the arrest of a person in connection with the attack on a mosque in the north of the country, indicating that what happened was an “individual problem.”

The army command said in a press release today that an Intelligence Directorate patrol in the city of Jbeil arrested a person after an individual problem occurred between him and the servant of the Sultan Abdul Majid bin Adham Mosque, of the Egyptian government, which escalated into a fist fight and resulted in the latter being injured.

The statement added that the detainee was referred to the internal security forces that were investigating.

Lebanese Dar Al-Fatwa’s media office said Lebanon’s Mufti, Sheikh Abd al-Latif Darian, was following up on what was posted on some media and social media sites about an attack on the mosque in Byblos, and asked the relevant agencies to investigate what happened.

Several young people blocked the streets of “Al Nour” square in Tripoli with burning tires, protesting the attack on the mosque.
