The Chinese city of Lanzhou said on Saturday it had detected the Corona virus in a package of shrimp imported from Saudi Arabia.

The Lanzhou Municipal Health Committee said in a statement posted online that it had found a positive corona sample in a frozen package of shrimp imported from Saudi Arabia.

The Easter result comes as part of the corona detection process that Chinese authorities are carrying out on products imported from abroad, according to Reuters.

And the freezer was closed, where the package containing the virus was temporarily discovered, all store employees were examined, all food packages were sealed, and the food sold was determined.

The health commission said that the shrimp, which was bought by “Zanyang Guolian” company, entered the country on October 21 and arrived in Lanzhou on November 8.

The positive sample in Lanzhou comes after the virus was detected in packages of Brazilian beef in Wuhan on Friday, and in samples of Argentine meat in Shandong and Jiangsu provinces this week.

The World Health Organization says the risk of getting corona from frozen foods is low.

But despite this, China has more than once announced the detection of the virus in imported food products, leading to the imposition of an import ban.
