In March 2018, Macedonia and Greece resolved their long-standing dispute over the name, and the name of the Republic of North Macedonia was finally agreed upon. This decision came into effect after 11 months (in February 2019), and the transition period was used to change passports, license plates, currency, border signs, and government websites …
After the completion of the border demarcation and restructuring, North Macedonia turned to luxury and leisure activities, and strengthened its national soccer team to achieve the great achievement. Soccer is popular in the country and only handball is the most popular sport in the country, and since 1993 the country has been competing in FIFA and UEFA competition on behalf of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, but this is the first time the national team has participated in a final of a major tournament on behalf of the North Macedonia National Team.
The national team plays its matches at the “Tus Brusky Arena”. The stadium was named “Philip II Arena” in honor of the ancient Roman king, but the name was later changed in honor of the late singer Brusky as part of North Macedonia’s agreement with Greece, which stipulates that all sites named after figures Greek monuments must be renamed. All these obstacles were faced by the North Macedonia team before fighting in the corner of their dream and winning.
The first milestones of football success began to appear in the country after a wonderful run in the Nations League 2018/2019, as North Macedonia was promoted to League C for the next edition of the competition, after which the national team Nacional reached the final qualifying rounds for the Euro. The road was not paved for the Macedonian qualification, nor was it arduous as the team benefited as other exceptional qualifying measures.
This is the first participation of the national team in a major soccer tournament.
The team, which was ranked 65th in the world according to FIFA rankings, reached “Euro 2020” through the supplement of the European League of Nations, and also benefited from the holding of matches, a match due to the Corona virus outbreak, after it was scheduled to take place on a roundtrip system. Initially, the national team beat Kosovo (2-1) and then Georgia in the final stage with a goal from Goran Pandev, 37. The current Italian player for Genoa, Inter Milan and Lazio, the former Italian player, has previously stated his intention to retire at the end of this season, as the Euro 2020 tournament, which was postponed to the summer of 2021, will be the best end of his long career.
North Macedonia will play in the third group of the “Euro 2020” final alongside the Netherlands, Ukraine and Austria, where the country’s 550,000-strong national team begins its career in the group, facing its Austrian counterpart in the capital. Romanian, Bucharest, on June 13, 2021, and then meets his counterpart. The Ukrainian is also in Bucharest on the 17th of the same month, and will be invited to his Dutch counterpart in Amsterdam, also on June 21.
Thus, the North Macedonia team booked their place in the final as the first to qualify through the play-off table. A great journey awaits the men of coach Igor Angelovsky, in an attempt to honor the country by participating in a historic first at a major soccer tournament.
