Beirut “Al-Quds Al-Arabi”: The fourth round of negotiations for the demarcation of the indirect maritime borders between the Lebanese and Israeli parties, under the auspices of the United Nations and Boss, took place at a UNIFIL center in Ras al-Naqoura.aAn American plan to discuss the demarcation of the maritime borders between Lebanon and Israel. The round of negotiations ended with the adherence of the Lebanese side to its position at the demarcation point, based on the maps and documents that prove Lebanon’s right to the borders of its marine waters, an area of 2,290 km2. The Israeli delegation replied that negotiations had been started on the basis of the 860 km2 in dispute, which did not allow it to search for any other additional areas. While this round was described as decisive, either halted in case of complications or continued in case positive signs are reached, a new round was announced on December 2.

It should be noted that this round coincided with the announcement by the Presidency of the Republic to terminate the mission of the Presidential Advisor in the United States of America, Antoine Haddad, who played a prominent role in preparing with the US administration for the negotiations of border demarcation. The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Congressman Gebran Bassil, previously accused him, without naming him, of inciting him in Washington to have the sanctions extended. Circles within the Aounist movement viewed Haddad’s campaign as the result of his desire to be among the Lebanese negotiating delegation, but Bassil excluded him from the delegation’s membership, which includes Deputy Chief of Operations Cabinet, Brigadier General Bassam. Yassin as president, and Marine Colonel Mazen Basbous, an expert in border disputes between countries. Dr. Naguib Christian, and member of the Petroleum Sector Management Authority, Wissam February.

In this context, the Information Office of the Presidency of the Republic issued that “the task of the former Public Relations adviser of the President of the Republic, Mr. Antoine Haddad, ended in the General Directorate of the Presidency of the Republic on September 9, 10/2020 after canceling the contract with him and preventing him from entering the Republican Palace, so he did not return. He is in possession of any of the files he spoke about in his statements to the media during the last two days, and any another file related to the presidency.

In addition, the Director General of the Presidency of the Republic Antoine Choucair issued the following statement: “During the last two days, the media have published interviews and statements by the former public relations advisor to His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Antoine Haddad, in which he addressed various issues, including the issue of demarcation of the southern maritime borders and other points associated with them. I was mentioned more than once when he spoke on these topics. In relation to this matter, I am interested in confirming that Mr. Haddad deliberately, during his time in the Presidency of the Republic and his use of the file on the demarcation of the maritime border, requested unconstitutional and illegal questions, and pressed for them to proceed with them and insisted on them in contradiction with all the rules and regulations in force, which led me to propose rejecting the violation of laws and the constitution. Above all because the directives and decisions of the President of the Republic were not compatible with what Mr. Haddad asked for in terms of illegality and unconstitutionality.

In response to the presidency, Haddad had reservations about “going into detail about the accusations contained in the presidential statement” and wished “that palace circles avoid being carefree in raising the constitutional or legal questions that he was demanding to preserve the supreme interest of the president. Lebanon and support the Lebanese negotiating delegation. ” Confirmed that The false claims of the presidential statement against him are a medal on the chest, and the President of the Republic knows it. He has sufficient documents to be careful not to present them at this particular time because national responsibility is not tied to a contract and the public interest for him is above any consideration. He asked those who called him “the entourage that surrounds His Excellency the President to stop transforming the presidency into a puppet that they manipulate unconstitutionally, since it can be difficult to reform if they intend to break it.”

Antoine Haddad, speaking with Al-Jadeed and LBCI, announced that he was surprised by the accusations against him of MP Gebran Bassil and his electronic army. He said: “There was a dispute between Bassil and I on the issue of border demarcation, and since the beginning of the revolution I have been telling the President of the Republic that his team, which was formed 15 years ago, has failed.” Added: “When Basil headed the national movement, I visited him and showed my willingness to work with him. I also worked with President Aoun because I want the pact to succeed, but he cannot work with people who do not tell him: ‘Hey, sir.’ I spoke with President Aoun beforehand and told him that there are sanctions and I tried to defend Basil, but the Americans used to say that he was a liar and corrupt, and the subject of sanctions that I knew about 6 months ago. I never asked Bassil to broke his relationship with Hezbollah, and I always told the US Congress and administration that this party is a Lebanese component.

He concluded: “The Free Patriotic Movement of today is not the same as it was in the past, since it was basically a movement with the revolution and against feudalism and injustice.”

Commenting on this divorce between the movement and Haddad, former fasting leader Elias Zoghbi wrote: “It is good for you to hear the political, national and moral surveillance from within the fasting movement. This current led her, with her time, to this dangerous dilemma after linking the blind and the blind with illegal weapons, and the deviations that arose from this link swept away all ethics, struggles and national pillars, and burned the slogans of sovereignty, independence, freedom, reform, rights and the fight against corruption, so that you will be left without regrets. It would be better for you if the national conscience did you justice, even if it is late, than never do you justice.
