The international conference on the return of Syrian refugees will begin at the Congress Palace in Damascus, on Wednesday, with the participation of the Russian Defense Ministry and representatives of several countries, with the aim of ending the suffering of refugees and facilitating their return to his homeland.

The two-day conference includes several sessions dealing with the current situation in Syria, the conditions for the return of the displaced and the obstacles to their return, as well as creating the right conditions for their return, according to SANA.

The conference will also discuss humanitarian aid, infrastructure restoration, cooperation between scientific and educational organizations, and reconstruction of energy infrastructure in Syria in the post-war period. It ends with a closing session and a final statement.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Sousan, confirmed that all countries were invited to participate in the conference, except Turkey, arguing that: “Nothing positive can be expected from the regime of Erdogan, the first supporter of the terrorist organizations in Syria “.

And he indicated that some countries were under pressure to dissuade them from participating in the conference, and Sousan indicated that China, Russia, Iran, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan and the Sultanate of Oman are among the countries participating in the conference, while The United Nations participates as an observer.

It is worth noting that Russian President Vladimir Putin made a video call with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad on Tuesday.

In this context, the Russian president affirmed that Russia supports the holding of the international conference on refugees, saying: “Russia fully supports this event, and actively helps in its preparation and implementation. Representatives of many countries, as well as the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, have confirmed their participation “, adding. That “the Russian delegation will be one of the largest, and will include specialists from 30 ministries and departments.”

The Syrian Information Ministry had invited foreign media accredited in Syria to attend the conference, which will be held at the Congress Palace in Damascus, today, November 11, for a period of two days.

Since 2017, talks have been held in Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana) on the Syrian question under the so-called Astana format, and in January 2018, the Russian city of Sochi hosted the Syrian National Dialogue Conference, which was the first attempt from the beginning of the conflict to bring together a wide range of participants.
