For its part, Canada confirmed that it will not participate in the “refugee return conference.” And the “Canada and Syria” account, affiliated with the Canadian government, tweeted that Canada “will not attend the event organized by Russia and Syria on the return of refugees in Damascus.”

The tweet added that Canada “supports the safe, voluntary and dignified return of refugees,” noting that “the conditions for such a return to Syria do not exist.”

In the context, Amal Sheikho, coordinator of the Office of Refugee Affairs of the Syrian National Coalition, explained that there is still no safe and stable environment in Syria that allows the return of Syrian refugees.

He added that the Office for Refugees of the National Coalition continues to record new cases of displacement and displacement in Syria, due to repeated cases of aggression by the Assad regime and its supporters against civilians in various regions.

Sheikho said that when communicating with Syrian refugees, it is clear that they have a strong desire to return to Syria and their adherence to their right to do so, but at the same time they openly express the impossibility of returning at this time until the Assad regime is released and his ongoing criminal practices against civilians.

The team of “Syrian Response Coordinators” also noted that the agreement requested by the conference, with Russia and the Syrian regime behind it, could not be achieved with the presence of Russian forces in Syria and the presence of the current leadership of the regime. Sirius.
