He noted that those involved tried to link any encounter or situation with “Hezbollah” with the relationship with the Americans and the sanctions.
The head of the Free Patriotic Movement said that the Americans have never raised the issue of corruption in Lebanon. He explained, I have repeatedly asked US and international officials to help fight corruption and return the money, and there was no response.
Bassil: The United States asked me to end the relationship with “Hezbollah”
Regarding the relationship with “Hezbollah”, Bassil revealed that he had recently informed the Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, that a US official had contacted him, and asked him about the need to break the relationship with “Hezbollah”, highlighting that “we cannot challenge any Lebanese in favor of a foreigner.”
He also reiterated his claim that “we cannot stab Hezbollah for any reason, and we treat each other with respect.”
He stressed that the US ambassador to Lebanon asked him for four demands, including the immediate dissolution of the relationship with “Hezbollah”, otherwise they would impose sanctions on me, Bassil stressed.
He indicated that he informed the Americans of his rejection of their demands, because this contravenes the principles of his party to receive orders and directives from abroad. And he replied: “I am not your client, but I want to be your friend.”
Bassil revealed, saying: The Americans gave me a chance to get out of sanctions and gave me a second chance until November 4, stating that the Americans used their “carrot and stick policy” and offered temptations to stardom and generosity. material.

“The Americans must know that the sanctions will not weaken Hezbollah, which will take the initiative to defend itself,” Bassil said.

He expressed his belief that the sanctions are coming from outside the United States, which has no interest in targeting the largest Christian movement in Lebanon and the region, noting that the source of the sanctions is Israel, which is interested in hitting the Christians in Lebanon and deport and deport them.
