According to most major television networks, Biden obtained 253 votes in the electoral college that determines the winner in the elections, compared to 214 votes for Trump, and leads in four undecided states in which the vote counting continues, heading to secure the 270 votes necessary to win.
Yaiden (77 years old) will become the next president of the United States if the state of Pennsylvania or two of the three states, namely Georgia, Nevada and Arizona wins.
Trump’s chances are relatively tougher, as he needs to excel in Pennsylvania and Georgia, as well as defeat Biden in Nevada or Arizona.
In Pennsylvania, which has 20 electoral votes, Biden narrowed the gap between himself and leader Trump to just 18,000 votes in the early hours of Friday.
In Georgia, CNN and the Edison Research Center said Joe Biden is ahead by 917 votes, as votes continue to count in this crucial state.
If Biden wins Georgia, he will be the first Democratic presidential candidate to do so since former President Bill Clinton, who won the 1992 election.
The gap is expected to widen in favor of Biden, as many of the votes counted come from pro-Democratic Party areas.
And in Arizona, where Biden leads, the gap between him and Trump narrowed to about 47,000 votes early Friday, while in Nevada it was still ahead by nearly 11,500 votes.
As Americans anxiously awaited the election result three days after the election, Georgia and Pennsylvania officials expressed optimism that the count would be completed on Friday. Arizona and Nevada are expected to take days before being tested.
Be attentive to the result
Trump, 74, tried to portray the slow vote count in the mail as tainted with fraud. The use of this form of voting was increased to avoid exposure to the risk of contracting the Corona infection when personally attending polling stations.
When these votes were counted, they undermined the strong Trump leadership that initially appeared in states like Georgia and Pennsylvania.
It usually takes time to count all the votes after Election Day.
Trump launched several tweets in the early hours of the day, reiterating complaints he had made earlier at the White House. “I easily win the presidency of the United States with the legal votes that have been cast,” he wrote, without providing any evidence of illegal votes.
Twitter placed a warning in Trump’s tweet stating that it may have a misleading meaning, as it has with many Trump posts since Election Day.
In an unusual attack on the democratic process, Trump appeared in the White House press room Thursday night and claimed without evidence that the election was “stolen.”
Trump lashed out at poll workers and harshly criticized the casting of pre-election votes, which he said was aimed at discrediting the vote itself for Biden.
‘Electoral rig’
Trump spoke for about 15 minutes in the White House press conference room and said, “They are trying to rig the election and we cannot allow that.” Then he left the room without answering questions.
Biden, who urged earlier in the day to be patient until the votes are counted, responded on Twitter: “No one will steal our democracy from us, not now or at any time.”
On the other hand, the Trump campaign presented a series of judicial appeals in several states, although the judges of Georgia and Michigan quickly rejected them. Legal experts said these appeals had little opportunity to influence the election outcome, and Bob Bauer, Biden’s chief legal adviser, described them as part of a “broader disinformation campaign.”
The convergence of the race reveals the extent of the political divide in the United States, while the count of millions of votes cast sheds a strong light on the Corona pandemic that is shedding its clouds over the country.
