On Tuesday, Turkish rescue teams recovered a girl alive after she spent almost 4 days under the rubble of a building destroyed by the strong earthquake that hit the city of Izmir (western Turkey) last Friday.
Rescuers managed to remove the girl Aida Jizgin (3 years old). It has been 91 hours since the building in which his family was staying was destroyed in the Bayraklee district, the most affected by the earthquake, which measured 7 on the Richter scale.
The Turkish Relief Organization (AFAD) posted on Twitter videos of the rescue teams’ work to extract the girl, which a Turkish official confirmed was fine, despite the passage of all this time while trapped under the rubble.
In a tweet, Izmir Mayor Tung Soyar described Aida’s departure as a miracle.
When they took her out, the girl was calling her mother, who was still under the rubble, and asked her for water to drink, while the crowd present received the news with increases, applause, hugs and tears affected by the scene.

The toll goes up
Meanwhile, the Turkish Relief Organization announced today that the death toll from the earthquake has risen to 107, and more than a thousand injured, 144 of whom are still receiving treatment in Turkish hospitals.
Rescue teams are still searching for other possible survivors, having recovered 107 people alive, including the girl Aida Jazghin.
The searches are concentrated in the rubble of a five-story building that collapsed after the worst earthquake in Turkey this year.
According to the Turkish authorities, 1,475 aftershocks have been registered since last Friday, including 44 aftershocks of more than 4 degrees on the Richter scale.
The Turkish authorities provided shelter for residents whose houses were destroyed or severely damaged, and decided to give money to those affected.
