Several New York City voters have tried to vote twice in the election for the president of the United States, seeking a simple method to change their appearance by shaving their heads, NBC reported Saturday.
The channel explained that the legislation of some states does not oblige citizens to present documents that prove their identity during the voting process, but that workers from the electoral commission are content to verify the signatures. According to NBC, police and poll workers believe that several New York voters tried to re-cast their votes after returning to the polls with their heads shaved.
The television channel confirmed that the Police are investigating an incident of this type, after the newspaper “New York Post” revealed that a similar incident occurred in the Bronx, where an employee of the Local Election Commission identified people who tried to vote two times and prevent this from happening. The newspaper claimed that the violators tried to flee, but the employee pursued them by registering their car numbers and reporting the incident to the police.
According to estimates from the “American Election Project” website founded by Florida State University professor Michael MacDonald, more than 89.5 million citizens participated in early voting in US presidential elections, including by mail, while California leads the process in terms of voter turnout. Early (9.76 million), followed by Texas (9.66 million), Florida (8.3 million) and North Carolina (4.3 million).
In the general election on November 3, Americans will elect the head of state and vice president, 35 senators, 435 members of the House of Representatives, and 13 state and regional governors, in addition to electing members of the municipalities. The incumbent President, Republican Donald Trump, and former Vice President, Democrat Joe Biden, are vying for the position of President of the United States.
