The Minister of Health of the Lebanese interim government, Hamad Hassan, has warned of the outbreak of the second wave of the new Corona virus in the country, and “there are no care beds available” in hospitals.

Hassan called on the health system in its public and private sectors, without exception, to “seriously prepare to double the number of beds and provide the necessary service for our community and our citizens,” noting that “the twinning program between eleven Government hospitals will continue to provide support to these hospitals, and according to which the World Health Organization will provide support. ” Government hospitals can purchase services under specific contracts with a time limit, to cover existing departments with qualified human cadres, provided that private university hospitals provide training.

The minister hoped that “the competent government authorities give priority to the need for public hospitals to contract and acquire services, so that the dynamics of dealing with them is oriented to support and develop them.”

He also addressed an invitation to all private hospitals, which until now have been slow to open Corona departments, until they do, especially because “the health systems of all the countries of the world are prepared to face the epidemic.”
