The Police of the province of Mecca announced, this Thursday, the arrest of a citizen who attacked a security guard at the French consulate in the city of Jeddah, west of the Kingdom.

The Mecca region police media spokesman, Major Muhammad Al-Ghamdi, stated that the Special Diplomatic Security Force managed to arrest a citizen in the fourth decade of his life after he attacked with an object. stabbing a security guard at the French consulate in Jeddah.

He explained that the attack resulted in the guard being slightly injured, and the wounded man was taken to the hospital to receive the necessary treatment, and the perpetrator was detained and periodic measures were taken against him.

This event occurs a few hours after the murder of three people, on Thursday, in the city of Nice, in southeastern France, by a person carrying a knife, and was arrested, according to a government source, while the Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor’s Office announced the opening of an investigation into the attack.

A police source told AFP that two people, a man and a woman, died in the Notre Dame church, while a third died after being seriously injured in a nearby bar where she had taken refuge.

The Antiterrorist Prosecutor’s Office announced the opening of an investigation into “a murder and attempted murder linked to a terrorist organization and a criminal terrorist gang.” It was entrusted to the General Administration of Internal Security.
