The examining committee clarified in the minutes issued shortly after a meeting yesterday that the modification of the results was due to “an error in the correction of the competence of the French language, which is summarized in a severe decrease in the qualifications of this language against English competition, which caused a defect in the results of the game in general. ” Consequently, the committee re-classified the French questionnaire and corrected it according to the list of correct answers.
Shortly after its first launch yesterday night, the committee was quick to comment on the results, according to Dean of the Faculty of Sciences Bassam Badran, after receiving complaints from students about doubts about the averages, and reviewing the matter, it became clear that there was an error in the answer key for the French language quiz it contains. Badran indicated that the French and English competitions were corrected again and the last results remained the same. With the modification of the scores of the French contest, he said, the previous averages were approved and the ranking was modified, so all the students who took the approved average in each of the three majors and above returned and achieved it.
Sources familiar with the environment of the deliberations of results (Deliberation) described the matter as “dangerous”, because “what really happened is to maintain the number of correct for the first time and add new successors with the result of re-correcting the contest of French language, do not rearrange the winners according to their scores, according to the number required to be accepted “. In the party, which did not exceed 105 students in any of the previous years, hence the possibility of adopting for the first time rates higher than the averages approved in the three schools. Changing the admission criteria to the tournament caused an imbalance in the equality of the students and exposes the results, as the sources said, to the appeals before the State Council by those affected, although the university realized that by not “fail” anyone who succeeded on the first day. “Although the results when issued are usually final and are not subject to amendment, and the examining committee could have been more transparent and redo the match and hold the authors of the error responsible”, in the words of the sources who asked: “Is it Is the job market likely to float with this number of graduates? ” . Against this backdrop, Badran noted that applicants for the medical school entrance exam doubled this year, possibly due to health conditions and the Corona pandemic.
The sources said that part of the examining committee justified what happened with the humanitarian conditions that the country is going through and the impossibility of the examined students to enroll in medical schools of private universities.
