Jerusalem: The Israeli army unveiled, on Tuesday, a facility simulating combat training exercises in the Lebanese “Hezbollah”, and called it “The forests of Galilee.”

The army said in a statement that the installation “simulates a Lebanese village just 300 meters from the border with Lebanon.”

He added that the goal is “to make the training of ground forces and armored vehicles more effective and appropriate to developments,” according to him.

The army noted that “it is an ideal platform to carry out precise maneuvers and exercises for the handling of battles in Lebanon.”

It noted that its establishment took less than a year, “and followed the lessons learned from the events of the past year.”

The Israeli military had said that it had monitored attempts to plant explosive devices and infiltration operations on the Israeli-Lebanese borders by Hezbollah members last year, but there was no comment from the organization.

“The facility was built with precise planning that resembles a Lebanese village, based on depth of intelligence and field understanding of enemy territory,” said Yarin Omar, an engineering officer for the Israeli army’s Galilee division.

He added, according to the army statement, “This facility is the first building block to increase understanding of the field vis-à-vis Hezbollah and its superiority.”

A short video and photos distributed by the Israeli military on Tuesday show that the facility is a model building with the Hezbollah flag in a forest of trees.

In recent months, the Israeli-Lebanese border has seen tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.
