Rafic Hariri University Hospital Director Firas Abyad tweeted on his Twitter account, saying: “Recent Corona numbers did not witness the sharp increase we have seen before, indicating the slowdown in the spread of the infection. But the stability in the positive test rate, the number of intensive care patients and deaths indicate that the slowdown is real. “

He added: “However, the positive test rate that is still above 11% means that the virus is not under control. Also, the occupancy rate for intensive care beds is above 85%, which means that we cannot absorb any sharp increase in cases. ” Corona is coming in waves, so will Lebanon face a new wave soon?

He pointed out that the current strategy to face the infection is to limit the spread of the virus through local prevention measures with an increase in the capacity of hospitals to mitigate the consequences of the disease, noting that with all the efforts made to avoid closure Generally, work is under way to improve procedures, and all of this takes time.

And he considered that the stability of the Crown numbers will encourage an increase in economic and social activity, and this may be a facilitating factor for the spread of the virus, and “thus begins a new wave of contagion.” Therefore, the current situation should be seen as a window of opportunity. .

He added: “Authorities and experts recently discussed measures such as the use of face masks, monitoring participants more strictly, partial closures that include major cities, improving and expanding detection and monitoring procedures.”

Al-Abyad believed that implementing these steps is important, otherwise the numbers will start to rise again.
