Commissioned by the Ministry of Culture, an independent jury selected the film that opened its screenings at the Venice International Film Festival and won the NETPAC Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.
According to the Palestinian media, the committee consisted of: director Hani Abu Asaad, director Sherine Daibes, director Suha Araf, actor Saleh Bakri, critic Ola al-Sheikh and director Majdi al-Omari. Additionally, five of the six members voted for the film, which co-stars Salim Daou, Hiyam Abbas, Maysa Abdel Hadi, Manal Awad, and others.
As for the story, it revolves around the old fisherman “Isa” who is over sixty years old and hides his love for the sewing “arrows” that work in the market, before deciding to ask for his hand. On a fishing trip, an ancient statue of the Greek god “Apollo” is tied to his nets and hides in his home. The problems begin when the government discovers that this statue is with him. After the news was announced, members of the film crew expressed their happiness with the nomination through their official social media pages.
