A bomb blast near an educational center east of the Afghan capital, Kabul, today killed more than 10 people and injured 20 others, and the Taliban were immediately charged with carrying out the attack.

The attack took place in the late afternoon in the center, which offers classes and training courses for high school students, in the western district of Kabul.

Waheedullah Jamazadeh, spokesman for the governor of Ghazni province, said the bomb “exploded at 10:30 am, as the bus headed from Kabul to the eastern city of Ghazni, and that nine civilians, including three women, were killed in The explosion”.

A spokesman for the Afghan Interior Ministry, Tariq Aryan, said: “A suicide bomber wanted to enter the educational center, but the guards at the center recognized him and then detonated his explosives in a hallway.”

Ghazni police spokesman Adam Khan Sirat said four policemen were also injured in the blast and blamed the Taliban for the attack.

Over the past week, at least 50 people have been killed and more than 100 injured in a car bomb attack on an Afghan police headquarters in Ghor province (west) of Afghanistan, according to officials.
