Today, Lebanese President General Michel Aoun appointed Mr. Saad Hariri to form the new Lebanese government, having obtained the majority of the votes of the representatives in his parliamentary consultations.
The prime minister-designate obtained 65 votes, compared with 53 abstentions for Hariri, while two deputies were absent from the consultations.
Dr. Antoine Choucair, Director General of the Lebanese Presidency, said, in a statement, that the result of the binding parliamentary consultations conducted by President Aoun “led to the assignment of Mr. Saad Hariri to form the new government.”
In a related context, President General Michel Aoun affirmed the continuation of the reform process in his country, highlighting that he will work for change and implement his reform project for the good of his people.
After the assignment, Hariri announced his intention to form a government of non-partisan specialists, whose task is to implement the economic, financial and administrative reforms contained in the French initiative document, saying in this context: “I address the Lebanese who suffer difficulties to the point of despair, that I am determined to fulfill the promise I made to them, to work. ” In stopping the collapse that threatens our economy, our society and our security … and in rebuilding what was destroyed by the explosion of the port of Beirut … and that first I will focus on forming a government quickly, because time is running out and the opportunity for our country is the only and the last. “
Meanwhile, Aoun said, in response to a special question put to him by a correspondent for the Qatar News Agency / QNA / about how he dealt with friends and opponents who obstructed his reform projects in light of the suffering of his people, that “the method used to be to reach an agreement to prevent problems and maintain stability. Today, however, this policy is no longer valid and we must seek and support the truth and confront falsehood.”
The Lebanese president added to Qena: “It is no longer worth continuing in the same way, and whoever loves his people and wants to work must change, and we will not accept the opposite,” stressing that he continues to “assume his responsibilities for reform and construction of the State, in light of the economic and financial crises that have not been done. ” Long live the country. “
The appointment of the new Lebanese head of government came after the week-long binding parliamentary consultations were postponed for a period of one week, for future consultations.
