The binding parliamentary consultations to elect a new head of the Lebanese government ended with Saad Hariri obtaining the required majority of votes that would allow him to start the composition process.
Hariri was appointed in today’s binding parliamentary consultations at the Baabda Palace, to form the next government, with a total of 65 votes to 53, which did not name anyone. It should be noted that the interim prime minister, Hassan Diab, had obtained 69 votes in the last consultations.
The representatives who appointed Hariri are: former Prime Minister Najib Mikati, former Prime Minister Tammam Salam, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Elie Ferzli, the Future Bloc, the National Bloc, the Progressive Socialist Party bloc, The Independent Center Bloc , the National Social Bloc, the Armenian Parliament Bloc, the Development and Liberation Bloc (which includes MP Qasim Hashem) and independent representatives: Nihad Al-Machnouk, Adi Damirjian, Michel Daher, Jihad Al-Samad Jean Talouzian and Adnan Trabelsi .
As for the representatives who did not name any personality, they are: the representatives of the Al-Wafaa Resistance Bloc, the Consultative Meeting Bloc (with the exception of the parliamentarian Qassem Hashem, who will participate with the Development and Liberation Bloc), the powerful Republic Block, Strong Lebanon Block and Damanah Block. Al-Jabal and independent MPs Osama Saad, Fouad Makhzoumi, Shamil Roukoz and Jamil Al-Sayed.
