The Iranian regime authorities did not settle for harming the family of the fighter Nawid Afkari, who executed him earlier, as they still keep his two brothers in difficult conditions of detention.

The family of the late fighter Nawid Afkari called on the Iranian authorities to save his two brothers, Wahid and Habib, from solitary confinement, the website “Iran International” reported.

The site indicated that my parents sent a letter to the judge overseeing the case of their other two sons, Wahid and Habib, who are being held in solitary confinement at Adel Abad Prison in Shiraz, demanding clarification on their condition.

The Iranian authorities carried out the death sentence against the fighter, Nawid Afkari, on September 12, following reports of the murder of a security man affiliated with the water company in Shiraz, in the context of the mass demonstrations that took place in many Iranian cities to protest against the deterioration of living conditions and poor public services in the country.

Waheed and Habib Afkari were arrested, along with their late brother Nawed, in August 2018, following their participation in popular opposition demonstrations.

“Our two sons are still being held in solitary confinement after being beaten and tortured,” he said in the message. “If you are the decision maker, return them immediately to general detention.”

The execution of the 27-year-old Afkarri was met with widespread international criticism, including sports organizations, who called on the International Olympic Committee to ban Iran from participating in the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, but Tehran did not care, emphasizing the independence from its judicial system and its rejection of any interference in its internal affairs.

The letter also said: “The forensic doctor recorded injuries to my children, 17 of whom were in Nuwaid, and 15 in Wahid and Habib, without taking any action even though 47 days had passed.

The athlete specializing in Greco-Roman wrestling has also received a broad campaign of support on social media under the name “United for Naid”, in which Iranian athletes and international sports organizations participate to pressure to deny Iran’s sports participation.
