500 candles for the Arab future

The administrators and staff of the Arab Unity Study Center celebrate the publication of the 500th issue of the magazine “The Arab Future”, which has been published monthly for 43 years, despite all the difficulties and obstacles it faced, especially during the damn war that Lebanon witnessed and lasted over 15 years. Despite all the physical and moral siege that the center faces, like all the unionist Arab institutions related to its independence and not depending on anyone.

The memory made me go back, contemplating the image of the family in the center, lighting candles and simply celebrating this expressive occasion, in the first days of the launch of the magazine, in which I had the honor of contributing in first numbers, through the theme of “National Unified Organization”, in addition to knowing the insistence of Khair El Din Haseeb (such God is in his life) and was Director General of the Center. That the magazine should be published in all the circumstances that Lebanon experienced, neither the internal war that stopped it, nor the Israeli invasion and siege of Beirut prevented it from being published, nor the frequent closure of the Beirut airport prevented it from being sent by various means to thousands of its readers throughout the Arab world, not even the multiple logistical problems it faced were left without The implementation of the “iron decree” to continue issuing regardless of cost …

Arab trade unionists, however narrow their paths, are capable of finding the means that will enable them to carry the banner of Arabism and unity and its resilient Renaissance project.

The celebration of the Trustees of the Center (led by the current President of the Board, Dr. Ali Fakhro (Bahrain), the President of the Executive Committee, Dr. Ahmed Youssef Ahmed (Egypt), and the Director General of the Center, Ms. Luna Abu Sweireh (Palestine), will shine the light at a time when darkness prevails in Lebanon and our great homeland. And in the atmosphere of multiple forms of wars to which all actions of a unitary nature are subjected to the consciousness of the enemies of the nation that Arab unity is the basis of any Arab uprising, and the prey that repels all the attacks of its enemies), has multiple meanings, among which it stands out:
1- When there is will, you must tie a path to achieve your goals.
2- Arab trade unionists, however narrow their paths may be, are capable of finding the means that allow them to carry the banner of Arabism and unity and their resistive Renaissance project.
3- Lebanon, despite all that it has suffered and continues to suffer, can still be the bearer of the message of rebirth in its great Arab homeland, and the message of openness, thought and modernity throughout the world.
4- The desire of the Arab trade unionists for the independence of their work and their refusal to be held hostage by any party is equivalent to their presence, and they realize that no matter how severe the physical, moral and media harassment of their institutions, be it to hit them or to unite them to this or that side, there must be a light at the end of the tunnel that must For our nation to come out of it no matter how long it takes.
In the case of “Al-Mustaqbal Al-Arabi” magazine, the magazine of the Arab Renaissance Project, this time the light was brought by a noble Gulf Unitarian thinker, Dr. Ali Khalifa Al-Kuwari (Qatar), who pledged to finance the publication of the magazine for a period of six months (extendable, God willing) as part of its contribution to the resolution of the crisis. The difficult financial situation facing the Arab Unit Study Center.
Dr. Ali Al-Kuwari, with his luminous initiative, gave a model so that all the men and women of the nation are capable of assuming, even a small part, the weight of each national institution that carries the project of advancement and is under siege for its independence.
A thousand congratulations to the family of the “Arab Future” and to the family of the “Center for Arab Unity Studies”, for the 500th edition of a magazine that contributed to uniting and bringing together Arab intellectuals. One of the best Arab personalities who answered the call to the foundation, and general director of the center for forty years, Dr. Khair al-Din Haseeb, who cannot be denied his merit and role in the construction and maintenance of this important institution. , and the first editor-in-chief of “For the Arab Future”, the late Dr. Anis Sayegh (Palestine), who emphasized Palestine is at the heart of any Arab renaissance project and any Arab unitary action.
