Representative Anwar al-Khalil wrote a message on Facebook, addressing President Michel Aoun, in which he stated:
Mr. President, be with Lebanon, the homeland, and preserve the constitution, not with a team that clearly and blatantly belongs to you.
His postponement of the consultations is a stab at the heart of a nation crying out in pain and lamenting the scars and economic, financial and social wounds that Lebanon has not known since its inception.
His postponement of the constitution is a clear and flagrant bias towards the wishes of the family. His postponement of consultations is another hemorrhage in Lebanon and a denial of healing or even hope of recovery.
Lebanon can no longer afford to enjoy the lost time, nor the attempts to delay and procrastinate in the commissioning process, which, with the delay in the authorship process, constituted 451 days lost out of the total of 1,452 days for the date of the day of their mandate, that is, 31% of the total days of their mandate.
Have mercy on Lebanon, Mr. President. Help him overcome his crises. And the time factor may be the most important factor in overcoming the great test that afflicts Lebanon.
We had welcomed your invitation to the early consultations that you had decided today, but we did not fear it because the history of those who were originally the cause of this delay have dictated your decision, expressing our deep regret and pain for this decision.
