Despite the rarity of sudden and permanent hearing loss, doctors have warned that it is related to corona in some people, according to the “Al-Hurra” website.
The medical journal noted that this possible side effect of Covid-19 infection has added to the multiple symptoms of the epidemic.
Ear, nose and throat specialists often notice sudden hearing loss, at a rate of 5 to 160 cases per 100,000 cases each year.

The specialists said that despite the extensive literature on Covid-19 and the various symptoms associated with the virus, there is a lack of discussion about the relationship between corona and hearing.
They asked for a hearing loss screening test at the hospital, including intensive care, as it is easily avoided, to allow rapid treatment with steroids that provide the best chance to restore hearing.
According to these specialists, few other cases related to Covid-19 have been reported, as no case has been detected in the United Kingdom.

In Thailand, the first case of hearing loss that referred only to Covid-19 was reported in April 2020, and the SARS-Cove-2 virus, responsible for the infection with Covid-19 and associated with a specific type of cells that lining the lungs, it was detected in similar cells in the ear.
