The Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States revealed on Tuesday that it had not reached a conclusive conclusion about the cause of the explosion that occurred in the port of Beirut last August, which resulted in the death of about 200 people.

There is a strong belief among US and European government agencies that are closely monitoring investigations that the explosion was an accident.

A spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation told Reuters that “no such definitive conclusion has been reached”, noting that “further questions should be directed to the Lebanese authorities as the main investigating body.

On Tuesday, Lebanese media reported that an FBI report was delivered to a Lebanese judge on Monday and the FBI declined to comment on the reports.

Two US government sources familiar with official reports and analysis of the accident said US agencies were largely convinced that the explosion, which included large amounts of ammonium nitrate that had been stored in one of the buildings from the port for years, it was an accident.

A European government source familiar with the intelligence reports and analysis said official European experts also estimated the blast to be an accident.

Beirut continues to pick up its wounds after the huge explosion that hit the port of Beirut, and several fingers accused the Hezbollah militia of being behind this explosion after joining to store these quantities of ammonium nitrate in violation of the law.
