The Public Ministry issued a statement clarifying that the meeting held with the families of the victims of the Beirut port explosion was cordial, as Judge Ghassan Oweidat explained to them how the investigation would proceed and listened to their concerns.
In the statement it is stated that “what was reported about the authority to resign is absolutely false, but the effort made by the Attorney General and the judicial investigator to discover the truth was appreciated, noting that the investigation is being carried out and by law of the judicial investigator and that the discriminatory prosecutor is willing to exercise his role in prosecuting the public prosecutor. ” All the perpetrators are arrested. “
And the LBCI reported that a delegation of the families of the martyrs of the Lebanon Fire Brigade who died in the explosion in the port of Beirut met with Judge Ghassan Oweidat as a prosecutor in the file of the explosion, and a heated debate ensued between the delegation and Oweidat after the families of the victims asked the latter to refrain from reviewing the port file. The opponents for many reasons justify this demand, the most prominent of which is that Oweidat, before the explosion, issued decisions related to the maintenance of the wall and doors of Pavilion No. 12, which may have contributed, among other reasons, to disaster.
