The Media Office of the Minister of the Interior and Municipalities, Brigadier Mohamed Fahmy, issued the following statement:

Some media and social networks circulate statements and positions of mayors and municipal officials of the towns and villages that were included in the recent closure decision due to the high number of Corona injured registered in them, some of which are considered unfair or Inappropriate to the decision of the minister, and some ask that they refuse to abide by this decision and not close Total.

Minister Fahmy’s media office will clarify the following:
1- The decision made by the Minister of the Interior and Municipalities was based on the recommendation issued by the Committee for the Monitoring of Measures and Preventive Measures for Coronavirus in the Government Serail, and delivered to the Ministry a list of these towns and villages with a high level risky.

2- The Ministry states once again that its work in this field is limited to implementing the practical part related to citizen security, and has nothing to do with other antecedents to which some work must carry, and confirms that no mayor or other Official has the authority to give instructions contrary to the content of the decision.

3- In accordance with this decision, the Ministry has assigned the governors, when necessary, to determine the municipal area in the main localities that have been closed, and therefore the mayors who prove that there is an error in the number of low, they can contact the governor to address the error if it is found in their localities, or review the committee for monitoring measures. And preventive measures to record their objection to the number of injured registered in the area of ​​their municipalities.

4- The Ministry of the Interior, and through the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces, will continue to fulfill its duty and implement this decision, in a way that guarantees the safety of citizens in the face of this rampant epidemic, which is increasing the number of people infected with it daily in Lebanon and the world.
