Armenia and Azerbaijan exchanged accusations for violating the ceasefire agreement after the city of Stepanakert, the capital of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, which is under Armenian control, was bombed.

Armenia and Azerbaijan continued to exchange accusations of violation of the ceasefire agreement, while the European Union called on the parties to strictly respect the truce, which came into effect on Saturday, expressing grave concern over the continued violations and attacks against civilians.

While Armenia accused Turkey of trying to undermine the Moscow calm and accord, Azerbaijani Deputy President Hikmat Hajiyev, during his visit to the bombed city of Ganja, warned that his country would respond to any subsequent violations.

According to Azerbaijan, the bombing of the city killed 7 civilians and injured 7 others.

However, the Armenian authorities in the Nagorno Karabakh region denied the shelling of Ganja, stated that it respected the ceasefire agreement and accused Azerbaijan of bombing populated areas, including the regional capital, Stepanakert.

These events led the European Union to express its grave concern over the violations of the ceasefire agreement and the continuous mutual bombardment and attacks on civilians.

The Union welcomed the ceasefire agreement and called on the conflicting parties to strictly abide by it and to initiate substantive negotiations under the auspices of the Minsk Group.

In a notable development, the Armenian Foreign Ministry accused Turkey of trying to undermine the ceasefire agreement signed in Moscow and of participating in what it called the Azerbaijani aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh.

Yerevan also accused Ankara of continually sending foreign fighters and terrorists from the Middle East to Azerbaijan, and the Armenian Foreign Ministry said this indicates Ankara’s expansionist ambitions in the region.

No exchange of prisoners or corpses was announced on Sunday afternoon, and it is one of the provisions of the humanitarian ceasefire negotiated in Moscow and is supposed to take effect on Saturday at 8:00 am GMT. Meanwhile, Nagorno Karabakh region is quiet Cautious.

The two sides exchange accusations for the violation of the ceasefire, while the Armenian city of Gores, inhabited by some 20,000 people and close to the region, is witnessing the displacement of hundreds of Karabakhists fleeing the fighting there.
